Biblical Parenting Classes
We recognize that Christian families are a walking, talking testimony for God, therefore, it is the goal of Cornerstone Community School’s Family Ministries to enable parents to learn, as well as to lead other parents in learning, through a biblically-based parenting curriculum. This course is a wonderful way to improve your biblical parenting skills as you seek to glorify God in training the hearts of your children.
The "Training Hearts for Jesus" parenting classes offered by Cornerstone Community School meet once a week for 14 weeks. During this course, parents will study Tedd Tripp’s Shepherding a Child’s Heart book and video series, as well as the book, Child Training Tips by Reb Bradley.
Cornerstone Community School also highly recommends that parents read the following:
The Shaping of the Christian Family by Elizabeth Elliot
The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman
Creative Correction by Lisa Whelchel
For Instructions in Righteousness by Pam Forster (Published by Doorpost)

Excerpted from Frequently Asked Questions:
Do we need to take a parenting class?
Yes, families interested in enrolling in Cornerstone Community School are required to take the "Training Hearts for Jesus" parenting class.
Because our parents are parenting, our teachers can teach. We know that education can be at its best only if a teacher is allowed to be at her/his best. Children whose hearts have not been specifically trained in making sound moral decisions can keep the teacher from teaching. We believe that each child in the classroom should have the right to learn everything he/she is capable of learning. It is our emphasis on strong Biblical parenting that allows us to accomplish this objective.
If all the parents in a given class are implementing the same godly principles found in the Bible and applying practical wisdom found in Cornerstone's biblically-based parenting curriculum, then the teacher, who is also trained in the same biblical parenting concepts, is able to teach. In fact, our teachers do not have the authority to parent. We believe that only a child's parents are ordained by God to parent that child; it is the job of our teachers to come alongside mom and dad to support what they are teaching in the home.
Having all our parents and teachers trained through the same biblically-based parenting curriculum brings a like-mindedness to the school. We are all on the same page and able to support and encourage one another in the goal of training up a godly generation.
